Connections are everything. In my case, the person whom I hired to cut the grass in front of my house with a machete was an occasional actor who knew a television producer related to the Vice President of Kenya. I was lucky to be asked to act in two nationally televised TV series. The first was "Susi Na Chuma," and I played the part of Dr. Livingston when he was approached by Mr. Stanley. In the second (shown in the picture on the right), I played the part of Sir John Kirk in "Sultan Bhargash," a series that was broadcast in both Kenya and Tanzania. All scripts were in Swahili. I declined any payment for my participation.
